The Walking Dead S2 Ep. 11 "Judge, Jury, Executioner"-Grade: A

"What just happened guys?!?"

SeriesThe Walking Dead
Episode: Season 2 Episode 11 "Judge, Jury, Executioner"
Air Date: March 4, 2012

Recap: Daryl tortures and interrogates Randall to confirm suspicions that Randall's group are not nice people. Rick announces that Randall is going to need to die. Dale unsuccessfully tries to convince everyone that killing Randall is morally wrong. Carl acts like a typical attention starved, disobedient little boy and almost gets himself killed by a walker while wandering around the woods. Shane and Andrea plot to overthrow Rick and Herschel as leaders. Herschel tells Glenn he approves of him dating his daughter. The group has a town meeting to discuss Randall's fate. Dale (and later Andrea) are the only ones that oppose Randall's execution. Everyone else thinks he is too much of a threat to keep alive. When push comes to shove, Rick can't go through with executing Randall.

Talk about an unexpected death!

The Walking Dead is taking the idea that "nobody is safe" seriously aren't they? (Dale, rest in peace buddy, you will be missed.)

Best zombie kill: Even though its by default, Daryl's take down of Dale's gut shredding walker was pretty awesome (and gut wrenching).

"This is my poker face."

Best dialogue: Almost any one of Dale's lines this episode. Even if he wasn't truly being realistic, you can't deny that Dale made some valid points there.

Best character development: It's a tie between Daryl and Carl this week. Daryl may say he wants to get away from "you people" and that he's better off fending for himself but his actions speak louder than his words. He participates in the group meeting and would-be execution, he comes to Dale's rescue (albeit a few seconds too late) and is the only one strong enough to do what needs to be done with Dale. In short, Daryl: you care.

Carl may have finally shown his true colors this week. It's nice to see him doing more than lying in a bed or running to hug his father. He's becoming more of a complex character and even though it is frustrating, its intriguing.

"Sorry brother."

Say what?! moments: I'm sorry but I'm having a hard time wrapping my mind around the logistics of this whole walker-that-killed-Dale thing. So Dale is walking in a giant open field, sees the cow up ahead, stops in front of the cow, can continue to see things in his peripherals in the big open field but then gets ambushed by a walker that manages to evade the rules of physics and appear out of thin air behind Dale. Also, a very thin, rotting corpse has enough super (dead) human strength to rip apart a living and still decently healthy enough man's chest? I know Dale is "old" and all but he couldn't muster up the strength (adrenaline rush anyone?) to roll the walker over ala Daryl Dixon style in "Chupucabra"?

Rick and Lori Grimes; parents of the year. It would probably be a good idea to keep an eye on your child, seeing as its a zombie apocalypse and all. No one bothered to ask where the hell Carl was during his little expedition into the woods? No one?

R.I.P. Dale. May there be a shiny new RV waiting for you in Heaven.
