Looking forward to: Filth Trailer

Release date: May 30, 2014
Rating: R
Directed by: Jon S. Baird
Starring: James McAvoy, Jamie Bell, Eddie Marsan, Imogen Poots, Jim Broadbent
Synopsis: A scheming, drug addicted, corrupt cop loses grip on reality as he spins an elaborate web of lies and deceit in order to secure the promotion he so desperately wants.

Why it looks worth seeing: One word: Trainspotting. That twisted, charming wasteland of a movie changed everything I thought I liked about the world of film when I was 14. Filth is written by Irvine Welsh, the same man that wrote the novel that Trainspotting is based on. Filth looks intriguing enough based on the imagery alone (I do have a weakness for bizarre dream/drug induced sequences) but add James McAvoy (one of the most underrated actors of his generation) into the mix and you have yourself a guaranteed winner. And based on the reviews coming in for the film, this might just be the performance that defines McAvoy's career.
