Looking forward to: Gotham series trailer

Season premiere date:
Network: FOX
Starring: Ben McKenzie, Donal Logue, Jada Pinkett Smith, David Mazouz, Robin Taylor
Synopsis: Fox's ambitious new drama follows the rise of Gotham City's most famous detective, James Gordon. Gordon's life is forever altered by the murders of Thomas and Martha Wayne. His investigation into their deaths leads him to form an unlikely but important relationship with their orphaned son, Bruce (who will later become Batman). We'll also be getting a peak into the rise of some of Gotham's more criminally inclined citizens, including: The Penguin, Poison Ivy, The Riddler and Catwoman. By the looks of it, the show's motto will be "less spandex, more realistic character development".

It will be hard for Gotham to match the look of Christopher Nolan's brilliant Dark Knight trilogy with a television budget, but it doesn't sound like showrunner, Bruno Heller, is too worried. He recently said in an interview with E.W. ,"visually, Gotham will surpass the Batman movies. The movies are a very rigorous, kind of Germanic take on that world. They're visually stunning, but not particularly visually pleasurable."

Let's hope the man knows what he's doing!

Bonus: As an avid 'The O.C.' fan back in my teenage years, a little part of me will always root for Ryan Atwood (aka Ben McKenzie) to do well. I look forward to seeing him shine as the beloved Detective Gordon.
