Why it looks worth seeing: So, the way The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby is being distributed is a tad bit confusing. Originally the film premiered at last years's Toronto Film Festival as two separate movies: Her and Him. Her shows the relationship from Eleanor Rigby's (Jessica Chastain) perspective and Him from Connor Ludlow's (James McAvoy). Then, Director Ned Benson edited the two films down to one film called They. (Her and Him will each be released on October 10th in smaller, art house cinemas). Most critics seem to be saying that Benson should have kept the film as two separate pieces.
Personally, I plan on seeing all three films. I'm really intrigued by the idea of seeing a love story through multiple perspectives, especially when it involves the incredibly talented (and genetically blessed) duo of McAvoy and Chastain. As much as I wish the film had stayed a double feature, I understand the need to make it marketable to a wider audience, especially one with a notoriously short attention span.
